Red Buick driving on a city street The powertrain limited warranty is longer and it covers either 5 years or 60,000 miles depending on which comes first. Several repairs would be covered, including parts and labor, because of either workmanship or a defect in the materials.

Some of the covered items include:

Engine components like the engine block, oil pump, manifolds, cylinder head, gaskets, and more
Transmission/Transaxle: mounts, seals, gaskets, and internal electrical components
Transfer case (if equipped)
Drive system components like universal joints, propeller shafts, axle shafts, drive housing, bearings, and more

Anything that is considered wear and tear would not be covered. Additionally, there are several components that would not be covered within the powertrain limited warranty, such as coolant and cooling lines, hoses, wiring and connectors, and sensors.
